Ideas about how to create a sensual environment can be obtained from a variety of sources these days. You can find them in books, magazines, the internet and from your friends. However, I personally believe that when you are trying to create your own sensual environment, it has to come from within yourself. This is because it is in this environment that you will be most comfortable, most confident and most sensual. The thing that needs to be taken into consideration is that to create a sensual environment, you will need to appeal to all the senses, not just yours but also your partners. If you don't know your partner well enough then have faith that your own sensuality will guide you in the right way. Have options and use your intuition to see what appeals to them.

An environment that is too dark may not be the most sensual, because you both need to see each other and your partner should be able to see the efforts that you have made. Personally I love candles and use candles both for stimulating the sight and smell senses. Candles give a warm glow especially if placed in a scented oil burner that is beautifully decorated, emitting fragments of the candle's flame all over your room. This is relatively cheap if you are on a budget as all you need are tealight candles and one or two scented oil burners. If candles aren't really your thing, and your lights don't have dimmers, change your bulbs to those of a lower watt or better still of a different colour. The only thing about lights are that they are not practical everywhere such as the back porch or the bathroom. Candles are a much better choice for this. You would be surprised how lighting can change the ambience of even the dullest or barest of rooms. The dimming of lights or the use of candlelight also enhances our best features as they show off more silhouettes as well as hide little flaws that we may be self conscious of. Other than that, other little decorations such as sprinkling flower petals around the floor, bed or bath are also quite appealing.

For the sense of smell, I mentioned scented oils which can be readily bought in most stores. If you are on a budget, there are also some home made recipes for making your own scented oils. However, do try a few out first as they may not be the kind of scents you were hoping for. Although each person has their own preferences for scents, I suggest using scents in moderation.
