How to dress up your kids in style

Kids are great fun to dress, especially with the wealth of clothing that is available to fill their closets with. Kids are like life sized dolls that we can adorn with smaller replica's of our own clothes and accessories. It should never be hard to dress a child, and even to dress them in complete style. In fact, the majority of kids attire that is stylish is not only affordable it is inexpensive. That is, if you shop sensibly, and know where to draw the line so that you will not travel beyond your price range. With just a few tips, any parent (even dad's!) can dress their kids up in style and create an aura of comfort for both parent and child.

~Watch the price.

Of course it is cool if your son has that football jersey, or your daughter those sweet Uggs that they covet so greatly. But do you really need to spend that much money on something that the kid will soon grow out of? If kids are within a certain age group, they grow quite quickly, and seldom will be able to wear the same clothes or shoes for long. If that is the case, why waste your money on pricey name brands when you can buy a knockoff for less than half the price? Even if you tend to shop at malls and stores where prices soar, you can often find great items on sale and get twice the amount of clothes that you would have gotten if you were to buy full priced items.

~Know where to buy.

If you are not picky about where to get your clothes, there are many stores that offer great items for even greater prices. Know that stores like 'Target' and 'Wal-Mart' have very good selection of clothes, shoes, accessories, and more at prices that will not make you flinch. Want a store that is a step above? Try 'Kohls', which has a little bit of everything, from cutesy pajama sets, to name brand shoes, to head to toe attire that any kid would love. The best part? They are never over-priced. Seldom will you enter this store and fail to find a great deal. They even carry athletic clothes boasting logo's and jersey's of local sports teams.

~Be cool.

Not all kids will trust their parents' judgement on what is hip or in style. Instead, how about trusting your kids judgement? It would be wise to draw a line somewhere, of course, because there is a difference between trendy and trashy. But normally kids have a far better grip on reality when it comes to style than adults do. You don't want your kid to go to school and be the complete opposite of all of their peers, do you? So, keep an eye on Ads and catalogues, and let your kids pick some of their own clothes. It may make a world of difference.

~Know your child.

Just like adults, kids look better in certain colors and styles more than others. Know what looks best on your child, while at the same time maintaining comfort. Kids can be picky with the way that clothes fit and even colors and styles. Be aware of your child's history with clothing. If tight clothes are a turn off, try to avoid them. If your child loves baggy, loose fitting attire, stick to what you know. Make sure that the clothing you buy is well made and will hold up well under the stress that kids will put upon it.

It is certainly not difficult to dress your kid in style, as long as you know what you are doing. Also know what you are up against. Search ads, the internet, and different stores for prices, sizes, colors, and styles. If need be, travel to a few different stores until you find exactly what you are looking for. It is not a crime to buy a cheaper item if the quality is about the same as a name brand. Of course, you may always splurge on name brands if you like, just remember; kids grow out of clothing at different rates. Know what your budget can handle before you dive right in.
