Poetry: The drive-in

by Michelle Lea

Created on: November 11, 2008

This became a ritual for us, my two daughters and me! Every Sunday was our night out at the drive-in movies. There are three reasons why we picked Sunday as our day; one reason was that this day was good timing for us, the second reason was the cost and the final reason was for time spent together.

Sunday evenings, were always open, therefore leaving us time to go to the movies. All of the other days of the week, we were always busy with too many things to do.

The second reason was the cost. On the "Drive-in" hot nights, Friday and Saturday, the admission is $10.00 a car load. However, on Sunday through Thursday, the cost of admission is only $5.00 a car load. Being cheaper is a definate bonus for us.

Last but not least, the most important reason, is time spent together. Precious time spent making memories, just us three gals hanging at the movies. Oh, can't leave this out, we always have to get one of their biggest sour pickles that they sell for a $1.00 at their snack bar. We bring our own 25 cent colas from our local grocery store known as H.E.B., this saves us alot of money, drinks are $1.00 each at the snack bar. This is time well spent making memories, just me and my daughters, girl's night out.

You can't put a price on happiness. I'll say this, "our Sunday nights at the Drive-in are priceless."
