The word karma suggests balance...that destiny is operating in order to balance the scales for past acts, based in this life time and in others long since passed. The vengeful side of karma is often emphasised to the point that some people only define karma in terms of someone who has done wrong "getting what is coming to them" however, the energy of karma is one of balance, not revenge.
Our incarnations into each individual lifetime are designed to expand our souls experience and in order to do this we create all kinds of actions, reactions and repercussions. Karma ensures that all of these interactions result in balance for all concerned and is thus a law which heals extremes in order to restore the balance in any given situation. The perspective of the person going through karmic balancing at any given time can be that it is harsh justice as human nature is that we only ever have a limited perspective of what anyone else is going through at any given moment and thus will always see things slightly differently from anyone else involved in our situation. Thank fully the key to karma exists in forgiveness ...of self and others as this ensures that we dont become mired in the never ending cycle of chain reaction which stems from every individual action.
True forgiveness is dependent on true understanding and in order for this to happen we must be able to look clearly at the whole picture and accept it all, seeing all sides, not just our own.
When we consider our evolution through many, many lifetimes, we come to realise that we have played both the roles of the victim and the perpetrator at one time or another and in order to heal we must thus acknowledge our similarities to our enemies as well as our differences. That is, we must give good for evil and in the act of forgiving, our aura will be cleansed and our vibration raised.
Even though we may not yet consciously understand what debt we owe that makes our forgiveness necessary, karma in action guarantees that we will draw to ourselves not only our lessons but our debts and the opportunity to pay them. When they appear, how quickly and painlessly we discharge them depends almost entirely on our attitude.
Significant human relationships are anything but random and we never meet and engage with one another without an assignable cause, even when that cause is neither recognised, nor understood. The balancing Law of Karma is always in play. Forgiveness is the only shortcut through karma I've ever discovered and simply by being willing to forgive, we raise our entire condition to a higher level wherein we no longer draw to ourselves more of the same traumas and difficulties.
