To the world I represented light, sun and happiness.
But deep down in side I would think to myself.
If only you knew me.
I was confident and proud
Challenging the world as life crumbled around me.
But again I would think to myself.
If only you knew me.
For deep down inside I was emotionally crushed.
And deep down inside I was really dying of true pain.
If only you knew me, my world that no-one saw.
Then maybe you would realise that soon I would be no more.
I know that you watched me and gave a tentative smile,
Then the next day silently passed me a beautiful flower.
And that one time you saw my true self,
You touched my cheek with your gentle hand.
Now as I walk beside you invisible to the world,
You remind me of your kindness.
If only you knew me.
But I never gave you the chance.

If you knew what I'm going through,
I know you would feel the same way, too.
You would go around feeling sad and blue,
And think

For lack of any

my prospects sink, again

it wasn't what you thought
I never thought
