Ode to Henry
Here's to our, Henry Humpty
The Towns own favourite drunkin numpty
Not a penny to his name
Begging for drink, with no shame
Henry's harmless they all say
Laughing as he walks away
Smelling, with a face that's worn
Matted beard, clothes all torn
Yet given Henry's awful plight
Always smiling always bright
Unless he's passed out from the booze
In a doorway, for a snooze
All it takes to brighten his day
A couple of coins thrown his way
Then into the offy for a spot of brunch
A can of beer, for his lunch
No-one knows why or how he got there,
Begging for life without a care
Henry drank to mask his pain
A wounded solider, in life's tough game
The smile just, to let people see
There is no more you can take from me
