Give yourself the gift of sleep

Give yourself the gift of sleep. People try to accomplish too much in a given day. (Let's work over time and make more money. Let's enjoy the party until the end. Let's enjoy this movie tonight, even though we expect to pay for it tomorrow, as we suffer through the day, short of sleep.) Who can say they've thoroughly enjoyed a day when frequent yawning was required just to stay awake?

Working over time, can lead to illness, when you're depriving yourself of proper sleep. Chances are your over time earnings will eventually be used to pay for your body's ailments that came about because you deprived yourself of sleep too often. Going to sleep while driving and having a wreck is a typical punishment for depriving yourself of sleep. Having heart pains is another punishment for not giving your body enough rest (recuperation time). Giving yourself the gift of sleep, will also be a gift for those that care for you. Your friends and relatives may not have to spend money and time at a hospital to visit you.

The body needs rest, time to heal itself. Deep breathing, while sleeping or exercising, helps clear your lungs of excessive fluids. If you don't get enough sleep to wake up with a morning cough, when your lungs need it, you may just be daring an illness to move in. Giving yourself the gift of sleep can increase your alertness and may add years to your life outside of a hospital. You can pay a doctor money to tell you to get plenty of rest or you can tell yourself to get plenty of rest and possibly cut out the middle man. Give you and your body the chance to be your healer.

Next to proper food, water, and oxygen, proper sleep is one of the best healers on the planet. The best gift you can offer your friends and relatives is you in a healthy condition. The healthier you are, the better you can serve others. Give it your best effort and you will have given your best gift to others. Being at a family get together is much more precious than mailing expensive gifts. Gifts that can be bought with money are icing on the cake, but if there is no cake present, the icing has little meaning. Giving yourself enough of sleep can increase your eye sight. Tired eyes need glasses even when at other times they do not.
