Which is the mostly widely practiced "profession" in the world? King Krishnadevaraya had this doubt and his court jester Tenali Rama had this instant answer: "Physicians". How? Go and tell any person about some ailments you are suffering from. People will immediately tend to diagnose what and why it is and propose you some simple home remedies or off-the-counter medicines!
If Tenali Rama were to be alive today, he would have said "writing" as the most widely practiced "profession" in general and "blogging" in particular! There are mind boggling number of websites where millions of people do blogging. Every alternative person in this world seems to believe that he / she is blessed with excellent writing skills, which this wretched world, before the advent of blogs, seemed to be unjustly scorning at!
Internet is an instant global library of knowledge, information, misinformation, opinions, facts, fiction, rumors, truth, falsehood and what not. Most of us have some amount of all of these in us and a vast majority of us think we have all the potential, capability and a sense of "moral" duty to disseminate this information for the benefit of humanity.
In the good-old world of printed publication, disseminating your knowledge, information, opinion and so on was not easy. You have to put them into writing, spend on postage and mail it to a publisher and then - wait, wait and wait. God only knows whether any editor or a sub-editor will ever read and evaluate them or simply direct your envelope to the dustbin without ever opening them. If you get a "rejected" mail, you are lucky. If you get your manuscript back, you are blessed. If you get published, well, you may have to be rushed to the hospital for a suspected heart attack!
And one day, a truly God blessed soul invented blogging. With almost half of the world population reined in with utter frustration on account of the absence of outlets for their potential writing skills, blog sites welcomed them with open hands and thus the entire humanity was redeemed!
Lo and presto! The arrogance of print-world publishers are not to be seen in the blogging arena. There are no thick-glassed editors to review, rewrite or reject your writes. There are no proof readers either. Whatever you write found instant publication with all your grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, capitalization errors, punctuation problems, poor sentence structure everything intact! You are a published writer now! Could there be any more fun than this?
