The problem with religion is that there is no scientific basis to refute it with, as we are told that we have to go off blind faith, hence Religion has a sociological and psychological control over us, as we surrender our life to a higher power, and thus give ourselves meaning and purpose in the process, which doesn't exactly sound like a bad thing, unless you look again a little more closely to uncover the lie behind the lie. To quote Marx:-
Religion is the opiate of the people'
Religion socialises us into an acceptance of inequality, it keeps the poor resigned to their fate, and if I can return to Marx turns our chains into daisies. Religion is the ultimate form of social control as it gives both meaning and a need to follow order and structure. Religion also helps us deal with earthly injustices such as murder, as we are told that they will eventually be punished in the after life'. The legal system was put in place to specifically maintain the social structure, and reinforce social control through punishment of none conformists to the system. Such punishments are supposed to act as a deterrent to anyone else thinking of going against the established ways of the society. Since the legal system has just been pretty much summed up, I will move on to the media.
The media is one of the Top Dog's in the way of social control. It is unlike education for example as education only has a grip on us for so long before we leave for the world of work, but the media is a constant medium and flow of information, propaganda, disinformation, ideology etc all with the intended aim of keeping audiences living, breathing eating, sleeping and thinking in a certain way. All these different mediums of thought are entering your eyes, and being processed by your brain at the speed of light. This leaves no time to actually think about what you're seeing, as this control works on a more subliminal level.
Having taken a look at the various means of social control and how it helps to mould us and conform us all, I have concluded that there is no escaping Social control, as it has an infinite number of platforms in which to work, and we have but two way to receive it:- Through our eyes and through our minds. The only possible way to release ourselves from the clutches of this control is to be none conformist and reject social order, which is almost as sinister as social control itself...
