Holidays are a wonderful time of year to express your holiday spirit. Decorating your home creates warmth and welcome to guests. Your front door is the first impression someone gets before entering your home at the holidays. Here are some creative ideas for decorating your front door to welcome your guests and family members into your home.
Wrap your door
Cover your front door with colorful holiday wrapping paper. Attach a large bow in the center. Attach a spot light that will illuminate the door giving a bright welcome to your guests.
Add a evergreen
Purchase a fake evergreen tree. Put the plant into an urn. Set the urn next to your front door. Attach simple unbreakable and outside friendly decorations all over the tree. Place a bow on the top of the tree.
Gifts galore
Wrap up some empty cardboard boxes with holiday gift wrapping paper and colorful bows. Stack them next to your front door. These will need to be brought inside when it rains.
Light the way
Illuminaries are a lovely way to welcome guests into your home. Place one cup of white sand inside a small, colorful paper gift bag. Set a votive candle down into the sand. Turn down a one inch top edge of the bag. Set the bags along the edge of the side walk leading up to your front door. Light the candles just before your guests arrive. The illuminaries will light the path to your front door.
Child's welcome
Wrap your front door in white butcher paper. Let you children draw bold holiday designs all over the paper. Another creative idea is to have the children press their hands into red paint, then press their hands onto the butcher paper. Have them repeat this with green paint. The red and green handprints will welcome all your guests into your home over the holidays.
Natural swag
Collect pinecones, long evergreen branches and holly leaves with berries. Weave the everygreen branches into a large wreath. Attach the pinecones with wire. Add the holly leaves with berries. Hang the homemade wreath on the door to welcome guests for the holiday.
Bright poinsetta
Bright red poinsettas add color and warmth to any entrance. Purchase one or two large silk poinsettas at a discount store. Put the silk plants into large white urns. Set the urns on either side of your front door.
Sweet scents
Long cinnamon sticks are available at arts and crafts stores. Wrap 8-10 sticks together tied together with colorful ribbon. Attach this bundle of cinnamon onto your door. The sweet scent of cinnamon will welcom your friends and family each time they enter the house. You can also attach your cinnamon sticks to a fake evergreen wreath hanging on the door for the same affect.
Your front door is the entrance into your home. Express a warm welcome to your friends and family during the Christmas holiidays this year.
