Facial hair removal for women

by Rachelle de Bretagne

Created on: November 09, 2008

Through the different stages of life, a woman can experience facial hair growth, which is embarrassing to live with. There are various methods available for women to tackle this personal problem and this article is written to advise on methods suitable for different areas of the face. Care should always be taken with delicate skin, and each method also lists what to look out for to avoid rashes and bad reactions.

*Eyebrows.
*Chin area.
*Upper lip.
*Menopausal hair removal.
*Moles

Eyebrows.

Often the natural eyebrow bridges the top of the nose, and of course women want to present their eyebrows in a shapely form. The obvious treatment here is to use plucking with tweezers, although this does get tiresome. The hair in this area can safely be removed by the use of several kinds of treatment, though those treatments to avoid are shaving and creams, since this is a delicate area of the face and these can cause problems.

Salon treatments get expensive, and if the problem is one which is serious, this can be dealt with by electrolysis which is relatively painless though will need several sessions to make the treatment work. The electrolysis pens which are available take a lot of patience and are not advised if the hair growth is heavy since this is an ongoing treatment which requires constant use of the pen, over a long period of time, weakening the root until the growth is diminished. The ideal time to have electrolysis treatment is a week after plucking as this means that the hair being removed is at its weakest and the treatment more effective.

Another method available for home use is waxing. With the new range of products available on the market, the one which tackles this area effectively is microwave wax which has no need for pieces of material for removal. Nivea make a very good wax which is put onto the skin in the direction of hair growth, left to dry and harden, (2 minutes), and then pulled in the opposite direction. This is fast and effective, and a few moments of discomfort is more than compensated for by the efficiency and long lasting of the treatment.

Chin area.

The chin area of the face often has stray hairs during late twenties right through to menopause and beyond. This can be treated quickly and efficiently with tweezers, though if the problem is exaggerated and excessive, it would certainly be worth visiting a salon and asking what treatments they suggest. Electrolysis in a salon is more effective than home treatment, as is laser treatment and only a specialist
