How to make deodorizing body oils

Deodorizing body oils are easy to make at home. After any medical causes for body odour have been eliminated then using deodorising herbs and oils can be a good alternative to the commercial antiperspirants and deodorants.

The traditional deodorizing body oils are sage, thyme and eucalyptus peppermint. In addition peppermint, tea tree, clary-sage, lavender, grapefruit and rosemary oils may be useful. To make your own deodorizing body oil first sniff the essential oils recommended and see what you like. Body odour can result from the overgrowth of bacteria on the skin and in these instances tea-tree oil and lavender oil are usefl for their anti-bacterial properties. Sage oil is particularly useful if the excessive sweating is from hormaonal causes.

To make a blend for your body take thirty milliletres of a base vegetable oil and add thirty drops of a blend of the deodorising oils that you like. Sage is particularly beneficial for body odour so it is good to use fifteen drops at least of this and make up the rest with the scents you like.

Vigorously shake the bottle you are blending in and then apply the body oil after your bath.

The base oil can be any simple vegetable oil but if you have dry or sensitive skin then using a base of almond oil, wheatgerm oil or avocado oil can be beneficial for the skin. Wheatgerm and avocado in particular have good anti-aging and healing properties.

If you cannot stand the smell of the traditional deodorizing herbs add a few drops of something strong that you do like, such as lemon oil, or cedarwood oil, to mask the smell.

If your skin is oily, or you prefer not to have the oily residue left by a deodorizing body oil then you can make deodorizing body splashes using essential oils. Take a base is made of one hundred millilitres of white wine or cider vinegar and ten millilitres of vodka or raw alcohol. To this add a blend of thirty drops of deodorizing oils. Shake well and then dilute in half a litre of spring or rain water.

This recipe works well for teenagers as a skin toner to treat acne as well as an deodorizer and as an aftershave for men. In addition to using the deodorizing body oils if you suffer from body odour consider drinking sage tea three times a day. If the problem continues see a doctor to check that there is no medical problem. Offensive body odour can result from medical problems, not just from bad personal hygiene.
