Whenever the subject of the rights we as a society extends to gays, the subject of religion and morals and values is raised. We are quick to say that the bible looks down on homosexuality so they should not be allowed the same rights as those that are righteous. Those upon whom God has bestowed his blessings because they live so properly in this life. A man who loves who he loves has no place in church, but a man who drinks and commits adultery on Saturday night is welcome Sunday morning.

Should Christian schools be required to accept children of gay parents? It sickens me not only that the question would come up, but more so that so called "Christians" would even turn away a child. How does the phrase go? "What would Jesus Do?" How can 52% of you, so far 44 articles, so far 199 voters dare call yourselves Christian (or whatever faith, I will not assume) and say that you would turn away a child because of the sins of the parents?

Further, do the Christian churches do background checks on all of the parents to make sure that they do not commit some other sin? Last I checked there were seven. Are the parents subjected to drug tests? Are they followed and spied on to make sure that they are not committing adultery? Does a reverend hang out at the clubs to make sure that parents of the students are not getting plastered? Do these things not matter? And if they do, then why isn't there a category entitled "Should Christian schools be required to accept children of parents who [place deadly sin here]."

To go even farther, should someone who wants to give their children a private school education be allowed to send their children to a school not of their faith? To say that they should not be allowed to attend is bigotry and intollerance. To not allow a child in a school because you do not like their parents is just plain evil, and not what Jesus would do.

The question here is not about forcing anyone to accept someone for who they are, despite a moral conflict. It's about a child. And I'm not calling anyone a bigot or intolerant for not accepting homosexuality. You're something worse, definitely not a Christian, for turning away a child who has done you no wrong.

The government can't require you to do anything if you are not government funded. This is a decision based on the morals and values of the Christian school. And last I heard, turning away a child has no Christian basis.

The question then should be: "those of us who truly love our children, should we enter them into an institute that would look down on them for something that is not their fault?" I raise my hand and count myself out. If 199 Christians (et al) would turn away a child, then frankly, you can have your school.
