The negative health effects of caffeine

Even though there is some research that shows some positive effects of caffeine, certain individuals should have a very clear understanding about caffeine and its negative effects. Some individuals are at high risk for the side effects of caffeine. If you have a history of high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic intestinal problems, or are currently pregnant, you are the individual that should limit their daily intake of caffeine. Even one cup of coffee a day can increase your physical dependence on caffeine.

Caffeine has become a lifetime drug for many individuals. If you are someone who relies on a daily dose of coffee to chase away fatigue or sleepiness, or for a pick you up boost, you are not alone. The strongest effects of caffeine last for about an hour after you ingest it. The most common sources are coffee, tea leaves, cocoa beans, cola and energy drinks.

If you have a smaller body mass, you will feel the effects of caffeine sooner than a larger individual will. If you are someone who usually does not ingest caffeine and then have a few cups of coffee, you are more susceptible to the negative effects of caffeine. Any kind of stress can increase you sensitivity to caffeine.

After about 15 minutes of ingesting caffeine it will increase your adrenaline level and give you a temporary boost, but later you may find yourself feeling depressed and fatigued. It slows the absorption of adenosine which has a calming effect on the body and you will feel alert for a short period of time and may have sleeping problems later in the day. It increases your level of dopamine and will make you feel good for a while, but when it wears off it will have the opposite effect and cause you to feel low. Also caffeine increases the level of cortisol, which can lead to diabetes and heart disease with continued frequent use.

There are many negative effects of caffeine on your health status:

Caffeine is a diuretic. It causes your body to lose water by having increased urination. This can lead to dehydration and is the reason you should not ingest caffeine products if you plan to work out. If you participate in any kind of activity that need increased fluids, caffeine products need to be avoided. The frequent urination can also cause excretion of magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium and other minerals. This can cause a imbalance in your electrolytes and minerals that are needed to maintain good health.

Caffeine increases your heart rate and can cause you to feel jittery, restless or
