The year of Jubilee and Christians

by Linda Jackson

Created on: November 09, 2008

Thank God for His mercy and grace in raising up teachers who are receiving spiritual understanding on Bible passages that have been obscure for thousands of years. Their method of teaching shows that every word and number written from the Hebrew and Greek transcripts has a spiritual interpretation which harmonizes with the whole Bible.

The spiritual understanding of the whole Bible points to our time as being the end times. It reveals God's plan for His salvation and for His purpose for His created universe in relating to time and judgment. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (New King James Version Bible NKJV) says, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."

These teachers are being challenged in the doctrine of time and judgment. They are spiritually qualified according to Colossians 1:9 and 2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV) which says, "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Jubilee, a 50th anniversary, begins in the Old Testament Leviticus 25. Every 50th year was a jubilee year. The Jubilee years began in 1407 BC when Israel entered the land of Canaan and were to be observed at 50 year intervals thereafter (Leviticus 28:8-13). Jubilee (liberty) was proclaimed to all Israelites who were in bondage to any of their countrymen.

The word "Jubilee" and its meaning is given by God in the Old Testament and is carried throughtout the Bible. Our Savior Jesus Chhrist is the quintesssence of an jubilee. Luke 4:18-19 (NKJV) says, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."

The Gospel is also a type of jubilee (liberty), and it is to be proclaimed to the world. Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV) says, "And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen."

The Gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ
