Yoga has been around for thousands of years. It has benefits to the mind and body has been proven to work in modern medicine. The practice of yoga targets your mind and body to help heal itself. As you practice yoga, it will make you more aware of your body's posture and aliment. Your body will become more flexible and relaxed, even in the most stressful environment. One of the reasons yoga is so popular, and considered therapeutic.

The list of health benefits of yoga is very long. Here is a list of ten ways it helps to improve your body's health

1. Blood pressure-aids in lowering

2. Endocrine system-helps to normalize its functions

3. Flexibility-gives you a better range of motion

4. Improves weight and sleep

5. Helps pain

6. Boost your immune system

7. Increases energy levels and endurance

8. Improves your cardiovascular and respiratory system

9. Improves gastrointestinal function

10. Improves balance

Yoga also has great psychological benefits. Here is a list of ten ways that it improves your minds well-being.

1. Relieves anxieties and depression

7. Gives you a sense of well-being

The benefits for your mind and body are great, but yoga also helps your body's biochemical responses. Some examples of these are as follows:

1. Decreases glucose

2. Decreases sodium

3. Improves cholesterol

4. Decreases white blood cell count

5. Improves vitamin C

Just as there are many benefits of yoga, there are also several different kinds. The most popular is Hatha. It improves balance in the mind and body. It has traditional postures for all levels. The second kind is Ashtanga. It has a faster pace and has a sequence of flowing postures that gradually get more difficult. The next is Power Yoga, it is for those looking for a vigorous, and body toning workout. This is just a few of the different kinds there are 15 different in all. Just pick the one that is right for you and your fitness level.

There are many ways to practice yoga. You can buy a CD and do it in the comfort of your own home, or you could join a class at your local gym. Some employers even offer yoga classes. Just choose the one that suits you best. So try yoga. Your mind and body will thank you for it. You will feel energized and refreshed.
