There is no doubt that the Bush legacy hurt McCain's run for presidency. Many people viewed the Republican duo of McCain and Palin as another Bush and Dick Chaney and as a omen of more of the same. Now that the time of Republican power in the white house is running out, can Bush make amends with the American people? Many think that he can by leaving.
The early success of the Bush era began as the new president accomplished more in his first term than President Clinton was able to while in office. Bringing two tax cuts to the American people with a vengeance the president rushed out of the starting gate. After 9/11 people hailed him for taking the fight to the terrorists that had attacked us in our very country. Of course, that was then.
Now the Bush administration has taken a big beating with its own words. Weapons of mass destruction claims and other treats that the presidency used to go to war in Iraq have been found to be faulty. Movie makers have taken the topic and made massive amounts by exposing some of the huge errors that the administration willingly fell into.
The biggest mistake of the Bush administration was the war in Iraq. The general public of the United states was all for the war until they found that the reasons that had been presented were in fact false, then all hell broke loose. The reason for our attack on Iraq is still unknown in the large scale but the people of America don't care. Unfortunately for Bush there is no easy way for him to pull our troops out because there was no plan made for such a movement. He can't move the troops out either because all the troops that are there isn't enough to maintain control over the population. The government was informed time and time again that they were not sending enough troops but they didn't want to gain opposition to the war.
The newest crisis that can be placed as occurring in the Bush era is the economic crisis that we face now. Wasn't it his job to keep the economy balanced? The double dealing that was occurring in the big businesses had to be apparent to someone in the government but nothing was done. Who is to blame and who is being punished for this? The American people, the working class who these multi-billion dollar companies are feeding off of already.
What has Bush done for us in the past eight years? He did alot of things that people will remember him for thats for sure. There won't be a history book made that won't be critical of this U.S. President. The recommendation that Bush should now hear from the American people that he can't ignore is the message of "Get out now!"
