There is a long list of reasons I did not vote for John McCain in the presidential election. But, I will try to narrow it down to 10. With probably the most historical election in United States history, I had no choice (other than moving to Canada) not to vote for John McCain.
10. Sarah Palin. As a woman, I was quite excited to see a woman have a real chance of becoming the first woman Vice-President in history. However, she just wasn't Hillary. I just couldn't seem to relate to this self-proclaimed Hockey Mom. I questioned her ability to lead if something happened to McCain. Hunting moose is WAY different than hunting terrorists.
9. Cindy McCain, I just never heard her voice. Here's a woman who's supposed to have her husband's ear, but we never seemed to hear her speak. Why is that? Makes you wonder what she might be hiding.
8. His economics. Any man who doesn't know how many houses he owns is COMPLETELY out of touch with millions of Americans who are desperately trying to hold on to their ONLY house. Giving tax breaks to big business and the wealthy is simply, a boneheaded elitist move.
7. Sounds kind of silly, but if he's so proud of his daughter that he adopted from Bangladesh, why was it only Megan (his pretty blonde haired daughter) that was really in the forefront of his campaign? He was running against a black guy, you would think that he would really stress diversity.
6. His age was another reason that I chose not to vote for him. Which brings me back to the Sarah Palin problem. The job of President of the United States really is STRESSFUL. Could his heart take it? Sorry, couldn't take the risk. And, at his age, who the hell is he kidding that he was some kind of "maverick"? Senator, you're WAY too old to be a maverick. Take your Centrum Silver Vitamins and call it day, OK?
5. Iraq & Afghanistan. Here was his chance to bring our children home and he wants to stay and continue a war that most Americans want to end. Spending 10 billion dollars a month overseas, makes no sense to me. Hell, we got kids that go to bed hungry here. Think of how much better spent 10 billion dollars a month would be spent to invest in college, housing, food, and safer streets for our children. I got an idea, take the 10 billion dollars and invest in protecting our borders! Better yet, take that 10 billion and divide it out among every American Family so they can pay their mortgage or buy a tank of gas.
4. His personal style. His speeches that always started, "My friends". Who is this old coot kidding? I'm not his friend because I'm not Big Business. I'm just a mom raising 3 children with a disabled husband. He couldn't give two-flying hoots about me; I'm not wealthy enough for him to be his "friend".
3. If elected, McCain could elect Supreme Court Justices. The thought that he could appoint a Judge for life scared the ever-living daylights out of me.
2. George W. Bush, the United States' most unpopular president EVER!
1. George W. Bush. Granted, Bush was listed for number 2, but McCain was so deeply involved with G.W.'s policies that I had to list him truly afraid that we would have Bush's 3rd term.
I know my reasons may not be popular of why I didn't vote for John McCain. But, I did what I felt was right for the American People. With a sagging economy, war, crime, horrible foreign policy, a complete disregard for our own country (except for a select few), I felt I owed my vote to someone other than John McCain.
