Immigration, both controlled and uncontrolled, has changed England and America, but the results of this are of course mixed. Some people may see any person fleeing their country to ours as an uncivilised savage hell bent on "stealing jobs" and committing crime. But this xenophobic view is applied to LEGAL as well as ILLEGAL immigrants, which draws attention to a simple generalisation that has diseased so many working and middle-class minds in England.
If we were to look at the solid effects of immigration we would see that immigration at the level of that which the UK has has had very positive outcomes; It has helped contribute to the average wage's rise faster than the usual rate for native workers. Immigration keeps down inflation, and fills any gaps in the labour markets. In fact, the Bank of England stated that inflation will rise if Eastern European workers stop coming to live here both temporarily and permanently. Its this combination of helping wage's rise and keeping inflation at bay that make immigration something to be applauded; Without immigration we would see an extreme increase in wages and so heavy inflation that could have made current economic problems much more severe for all those at the top of the scale as well as those in the working ranks.
You will not here this information, ladies and gentleman, at any nationalist party rallies. Nationalism is the scabies of the heart and soul, and is a product of misplaced anger and rhetorical nonsense from those that should know better such as Nick Griffin and his cronies. These parties like the UKIP and the BNP focus on silly aspects such as the rising crime rate and the crowded prison system to show that immigration is ruining Britain. But it is the case that only 10.5% of people in prison claim to be Muslim, and only 1 in 4 people in prison are foreign nationals. So no misguided pseudo-politician can claim that Britain is being defiled, ruined or corroded by immigration.
Multi-culturalism, probably the best thing about immigration has its obvious effects on Britain; it shows us that the world is round. This may sound insulting but i seriously believe that being confronted by Indian, polish, and any other nationals culture is a blessing; it allows for us to see how others live in countries both far and near. It broadens our horizons and allows us to discover different lifestyles, from everything from food and clothing to religion and music.
So immigration has changed Britain, and for the better. The tensions that exist between any two ethnic groups are only upheld by xenophobes and nationalists. Anybody will tell you who lives in a predominantly asian community that tension does not exist where mutual respect does.
