Ten reasons why I did not vote for John McCain

There is no disputing that John McCain is a great man who has sacrificed immeasurably for our country, but there are many reasons why John McCain could not win my vote for President of the United States.

The Economy - I have been very disappointed in the current administrations inability to find solid answers to resolve our economic crisis. McCain's statement that he doesn't completely understand the economy floored me. With the economy being in shambles, foreclosures being at record highs and the stock market teetering on collapse how can anyone consider a man who doesn't comprehend the economy?

The Environment - I am not a tree hugger, but I do realize that if we don't start treating our world with a lot more respect, she isn't going to be around for another 1000 years. McCain's answer to the energy crisis is to build 45 more nuclear power plants! How can that even be a solution? Sure, it will create jobs as well as more nightmares. We still haven't solved the issue of safely disposing of nuclear waste and the hazards of working with it. Why would we want to continue developing a resource that has more negative attributes then positive?

"I want to be just like you." - Of all the campaign commercials that bombarded the media, Obama's commercial with Bush and McCain was my favorite. The picture of McCain hugging President Bush showed how McCain idolizes him.

Maverick? - McCain has been in politics for 26 years. He has had a great deal of time to impact government and stop politics as usual.

Negative Campaign - Seeing the numerous ads that attacked Senator Obama's character, as well as his patriotism disappointed me, but watching McCain stand idly by as his radical supporter's chanted rhetoric convinced me he did not have the integrity for the Oval Office.

Palin - Governor Sarah Palin may do a fine job of running Alaska, but that in no way prepares her for governing America. I was inspired to see the potential for a woman as Vice President, but after watching a few of Sarah Palin's speeches and her references to "six pack Joe" I was certain she wasn't ready for the White House.

Technology - McCain's lack of knowledge of technology, the internet and computers tells me that he is a man set in his ways. With computers becoming a necessity for everyday life, and the extraordinary resources that they offer, his refusal to utilize this resource tells me that change is not something McCain is accustomed to.

Character - McCain has served our country as a military man and as a politician. As a service men, McCain is hands down the best man for the job. He served our country with dignity, pride and character. But the character required to be President of the United States requires more diplomacy, compassion and intellect then what McCain has to offer.

Temperament - Today's politician's need to govern with diplomacy while realizing that every nation is not going to conform to American principles. McCain's iron fist approach would cause more conflicts then resolutions.

President Elect Barack Obama - Obama was clearly the best choice. Even now, after the elections Obama is mesmerizing the media with his ability to captivate the American people and look for real solutions to the many issues that are plaguing our great country. With his leadership we will overcome our economic crisis, we will find the solutions to our energy crisis and we will continue to be the greatest nation in the world.
