The Ten Reasons Why I Voted For Barack Obama
There are many reasons why Barack Obama will make a better president then John McCain, but it isn't just that he is more qulaified then John McCain, it is that he is the perfect person for the job!
He is an Idealist - Obama believes that the world can be a better place, more importantly he knows that he has the power to make it that way. Obama believes that we all have that power, simply by being a better person, giving back to our communities and believing in something larger then ourselves.
Agree to Disagree - Barack Obama realizes there are countless issues that American's will always disagree on, from abortion, to gun laws all the way to taxes. It was one of his quotes from his acceptance speech at the democratic convention that really struck a chord with me. "The times are too serious; the stakes are too high. We may not agree on abortion, but .. we can agree on reducing ... unwanted pregnancies. The reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters then ... for those plagued by gang violence, but don't tell me we can't uphold the 2nd amendment while keeping AK-47's out of the hands of criminals." His words inspire.
Integrity - When President Elect Obama graduated from Harvard, he turned down lucrative jobs at law firms, and instead went to Chicago to work in poverty stricken neighborhoods where he knew he could make a difference, and more importantly he did make a difference!
Environment - With the energy crisis and more and more people screaming "drill, drill" I was impressed that Obama didn't jump on the band wagon and give the public the answer that so many desired. Drilling is not a quick fix to our energy crisis. We need to learn to conserve our natural resources and be more resourceful in finding long term solutions.
War - With these extremely volatile times when America seems to have more adversaries then allies, we need a diplomatic leader who can stay calm and composed when approached with extremely delicate issues. If President Kennedy hadn't been diplomatic during the Cuban Missile Crisis, America would have faced a much different fate. Obama's character and philosophies resemble JFK's and give me faith that he will protect this great nation, not with an iron fist, but with a level head.
Economy - Obama doesn't believe in the trickledown effect. For the last 8 years, the current administration has sat back, giving tax breaks to big business and watched as mortgage brokers and credit card companies
