Plus size women fashion tips: What not to wear

Have you ever noticed how plus size women are presented to would be consumers of fashion? Most often, women who have surpassed the thin and wispy stage that we are used to imagining a model as being are dressed in over sized, shapeless items. The message women get is that designers don't know how to dress them. Thus plus sized women gain poor self esteem and don’t benefit from being able to observe how great they actually can look, when avoiding what it is best not to wear. The following are examples of fashion blunders many plus sized woman settle for when they don’t know any better.

The Over sized outfit.

The misconstrued logic here is that by wearing something large enough to cover a great expanse of a woman's body she will manage to hide unsightly lumps and bumps. However, the effect is somewhat like the innocent example of a child who puts his own hands in front of his face and shouts, "Ha, you can’t see me now!"

The truth is, of course, that we can see a woman isn't slim when she wears large, loose and floppy clothing, just as we can still see the child when he covers his face. The added problem though, is that by attempting to hide her shape, a woman can end up looking at least twice her natural size.

To put it in a nutshell, baggy clothing is unflattering on a plus sized woman. Fitted clothes however, which nip in in all the right places, can make any woman look wonderful, curvaceous and sexy. If you are plus sized hold your head up high, and refrain from wearing baggy clothing. All it does is give others the impression you are not fit to be seen, which is a shame as underneath the mounds of material there may be a goddess just waiting to come out.

Horizontal stripes and large patterns.

If you want to know how horizontal stripes make a woman's figure look place such a piece of material over your coffee table as a cover and see how it seems to have grown in size. This is what happens to any person who wears a clothing item with a horizontal stripe pattern. Large women would do best to avoid them and to instead, try wearing vertical stripes, which have a slimming effect.

Large, floral, bold patterns can have a similar effect to that of horizontal stripes. If worn over areas that are large, they add to expanse. This is fine if you want to make an area seem bigger, but isn't wonderful for most plus sized women who want to make the best out of their curvaceous assets.

Tight clothing.

Close fitting clothing is fine for a plus sized
