More than ever it's time to go green where ever we can. With the economy being what it is and our planet needing all the help it can get. The holidays are a great time to go green. Here are some ideas to get you thinking of creative ways to wrap all those presents. The goal here is to use reusable materials, this will also double the value of your gift. People will like being able to use what their gifts came in.
For small kids or people who love the funnies try the Sunday paper comics.
Grandparents and others will love getting presents from kids who have decorated their own pieces of recycled paper.
For the gardener you can use handy organizers with handles, gardening stools turned upside down with your gifts inside and tied with reusable string or twine, decorative plastic or terra cotta flower pots to place their gardening items in.
A Seamstresses will appreciate you using a paper clothing patterns and you can use a pin less pin cushion as a bow.
For small gifts try magazine pages or old and new calendars that reflect the persons interests, like fashion, environmental or animal pages.
Fabric gift bags are becoming very popular now but you also can try these. Fabric pieces glued or sown together like a patchwork quilt. Towels, washcloths, fabric napkins, placemats, sheets or pillow cases or even throw blankets.
Reusable containers like these will work great especially if you have someone who is moving into their first place or is a college student. Glass jars with lids, trays with baked goods or flat items, metal tins, baskets of all kinds of shapes and styles, organizer containers, totes that are small medium or large, clothes baskets come in a lot of styles and sizes now, reusable wooden boxes, new mini trash cans, new clothes hampers, big drinking mugs or vases, reusable coolers or backpacks, shoe boxes covered in brown paper and then decorated.
You can make or buy handmade paper bags or recycled gift wrap.
There are several sites on the web now that offer a directions on creating your own gift wrap it's easier than you might think.
For gift tag ideas use these to start you thinking. A lot of times when you get pictures, you get doubles, use the extra photo as a gift tag. Most people don't write on the first inside blank page of Christmas cards, cut the backs off and use the picture side.
Girls will like getting gifts that are wrapped with ribbons that they can actually use for their hair. Just remember to tie them gently so they can be removed easily.
It's easy to go green in your everyday life, you just need to use a little imagination.
