My 3 year old daughter knows who Barack Obama is because of me. In fact she thinks he is my friend! She runs around telling everyone, "Barack Obama is momma's friend." She is right, in a way.
I voted for Barack Obama for many reasons. Most of the reasons may seem petty or insignificant than most, but I think it is important to know all of the reasons why people vote for certain candidates; and here are my reasons:
1. His friendly and down to earth personality. Unlike most presidents of the past, he does not seem to carry the, "I'm better than everyone" attitude. For once in my life I am truly proud to look at the man everyone calls "President".
2. He is black. I am not racist, but it is time that other races get to be president. This is important for our country's progression. Prejudice must end.
3. He is not George W. Bush.Period
4. It's the democrats turn. I just think taking turns is not a bad idea. I know this will never be a solid pattern to switch from one party to the other, but it might do the country some good to make a change once and a while.
5. He was very classy and modest in his campaign. Between the two candidates, he didn't lie as much and attacked the least.
6. Change. Let's face it; he sold me and millions of other American's with that.
7. He is a family man. This leads me to truly believe that he cares about healthcare, the economy and everything else that makes a family whole. You look at his daughters and see how well behaved they are so young. This tells you a lot about the man. He seems to really love Michelle. Loyalty is a great sign for someone who will lead our country.
8. I was originally rooting for Hillary Clinton, but after thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that if she were the democratic nominee, John McCain probably would have won.
9. He shed a tear publicly for the loss of a family member. I know this may sound corny, but I think a man who is in the office as the president should show all of the human emotions. This proves that he is human and has compassion.
10. The love of a president.I believe it is important to love, honor and respect your president. We may not have had the chance with the last three or four presidents to actually love our leader, but I think now is our chance.
Those were my top ten reasons for voting for Obama. I am a person of the heart and soul. Though I truly care about the issues, both candidates were going to handle those issues one way or another. I felt it was time to focus on the truly hard to find traits of a president, and that is why I voted for my friend, Barack Obama.
