How to review a resume

In the modern employment search, a job posting is viewed by invariably greater amounts than ever before. When you post help wanted, you will be given numerous resumes, and, possibly, a headache, when trying to review each resume.

Here is quick guide to reviewing a resume, no matter the position, to ensure the top candidate is selected.

First begin with the objective when examining a resume. A clear objective should focus on the applicant's unique qualifications and succinctly state what they will add to your company.

In their accomplishments, previous work experience, and any other content, look closely and scrutinize the dates of employment. Did they jump from job to job? Don't let them leapfrog within your company.

Pay attention to detail. Mere listing of duties in previous employment descriptions will not suffice. The right applicant will showcase measurable accomplishments that can be verified and that show specific qualifications that will translate in the intended position.

A seamless presentation of an applicant will showcase their solid qualifications. It is crucial to any employer to hire individuals with an unyielding attention to customer care as well as ethical and quality production.

Look for relevant educational and professional requirements in their resume. If they don't have the education or experience necessary, they aren't the applicant to choose.

Beyond the characteristics above, formatting and stylistic choices should be properly reviewed.

The right applicant will have presented an error-free resume. Their stylistic choices are both interesting, easy to view, and consistent. As you are reviewing the resume, ensure that it is entirely factual: exaggerations, omissions, and outright lies should blacklist the applicant.

A stand out applicant's resume will shine through the slush of muddled messes. Follow these criteria guidelines to be sure you find the most desirable applicant.

Use this summary as a checklist for each applicant's resume:

- Is it specifically geared to the position?

- Does the applicant use an active voice throughout the resume?

- Are the job qualifications specifically addressed throughout the resume?

- Does the educational experience match the requirements for the job posting?

- Does the applicant show an ability to form cogent, coherent statements throughout the resume?

- Is an objective statement present?

- Does the objective statement direct itself to the company and what the individual will bring to the company?

- Does the objective statement NOT merely state "to obtain a position in" or anything similar?

- Are measurable accomplishments provided?

- Are previous employment listings filled with relevant data that could transition to the intended position?

- Does the applicant avoid merely listing prior duties?

- Does the personality of the applicant seem pleasing from their resume?

- Do you have a good feeling about the applicant?

- Does all of their information prove to be entirely true?
