He has promised too much. It was obvious in his elections speech when the first thing he asked for was patience. He himself admitted that what he wants to accomplish may not happen in his four year term. Are we really surprised? If you are, then you bought the political speeches hook, line and sinker.
Do I think the economy will get better in the next four years? Yes, I think as long as the new President Elect does not screw things up he just has to sit back and wait. If you ask any economist, the economy always cycles back around. But if you listen closely now, the man who said he would stop spending, wants to put millions into helping those without jobs. I understand helping others, but where is he going to get the money that he promised not to spend?
Do I think he will protect us? I fear not. Dictators around the world only respect on thing. And that is strenght and courage, not one's intellect. McCain would have gained immediate respect from these men because of his vast service and his proven strength even under physical torture. I fear greatly what tests these Dictators will throw at our new President. I hope he is stronger than I believe. I hope he is ready. There are some people you just cannot talk to and I hope he realizes this.
Do I think he will fix our health care? No, that too is a vast problem that he knows is too hard to fix in only four years. And if his plan is to make our system a socialistic health care system, I hope he really exams Canada and it's failure in that area. Competition makes good doctors. My son needed surgery the day he was born. I shudder to think that if I lived in Canada I would have had no choice in which doctor was going to open up my child.
Overall, I think he promised too much and I think people expect too much. Every politician wants to win an election and people realize that sometimes they go overboard with their promises. But this election was unique. These promises were many and in a time when we have many problems it was not wise. Now he has to deliever, now the entire Democratic party has to deliever. If change does not happen, they have no one to blame but themselves.
I hope I am wrong about him. I hope this new President will make things better, but I fear he will not. Change is what he promised but not all change is good. In fact change by itself is not good. Just because you don't like the way our country is going it does not mean change is better. I am so sick of hearing the word change, just by itself. Change is not simply good, change is just change. Read the definition.
