Poetry: Separation

by Grace Golds

Created on: November 07, 2008

I'm kissing and talking to a shadow.

Words fading.

Time is running out

Time is running out for you.

Whispering your name.

Staring at that photograph.

Little parts of you

That make my heart carry on without you.

If I could take you in my arms,

Take it all away.

Stop you feeling pain,

Make you whole again.

You only need some hope

That you can change your mind.

You have all the power

To break free from humankind.

You don't have to stay this way.

Please change your selfish ways.

I don't want you to get hurt,

"I'm sorry" is all you have to say.

That one small, tiny word

Can make a whole new world

All you have to do,

Is let it in and do its work.

Why are you so proud?

I know its just not you.

It's hurting and its painful

For me to watch it too.

In this frozen frame,

You look just like I did

Before you broke my heart

Ran away and hid.

Taking my emotions,

My love, my trust, my fear.

So all you left me with,

Was a single, rolling tear.
