So you want to straighten your curly mane? You must be tired of waking up every morning looking like a big puff ball. Straightening your hair is not as time consuming or tiring as you may think and the results can make you feel like a million bucks. Well read on my friend and discover how in just a few simple steps you can achieve that straight look you are going for.

The first thing you want to do is gather all of the materials you will need to accomplish your task. You will need the following: Hair clips or elastic bands, brush, wide tooth comb, flat iron (of your choice), shampoo, deep conditioner, mirror and protective heat serum.

Once you have gathered your materials, get ready to wash your hair. Starting out with clean hair will ensure it is great smelling. Also take into consideration that you probably will not wash it for a couple days to maintain your new found straight look. After shampooing make sure to deep condition your hair for the extra strength it will need during the heating process. Be sure to choose one that fits your needs.

Next you have two options you can let your hair air dry naturally or blow dry it. If you choose to dry it naturally comb it with a wide tooth comb and secure in a tight ponytail to help keep the hair straight during the drying process. Keep in mind this might take a couple of hours. Although blow drying your hair will dry it faster it will also put more heat on it which in the long run can make your hair brittle. Again the choice is yours depending on how much time you have. After the drying process has finished you can now move on to the actual straightening process.

Are you ready for the fun part? Start by applying the protective heat serum all over your hair. Follow the directions on the bottle for the recommended use. You don't want to use too much and look like a grease ball or use too little and look dry and dull. You wan to create a perfect balance so your hair looks healthy and shiny.

For your next step begin at the base of your head and separate a small section of hair and clip the rest. Take half inch sections and start by pulling the flat iron from the crown to the root of your hair slowly. Flip the end of the flat iron to make a small curl. Yes we are getting rid of curls but you want a nice bounce to your hair don't you? After you have completed that part move on to the next little section. Now you have completed that section tie it off and then separate the next section of hair and repeat the same process. Make sure to check your work in the mirror.

Have you finished will all of the sections? Did you get your desired results? If not run the flat iron over trouble spots again. There now you have beautiful straight locks with a slight curl at the ends. Now go outside and let the wind blow through your hair girl, you earned it.
