The greatest wrestling tag teams of all-time

quit becuase he was unhappy with the business at this time, only making two appearances in 1990 and 1993 before his recent work with WWE and their DVD releases. Gordy was in the middle of the peak of his career success in Japan and Hayes teamed with Jimmy Garvin to continue the Freebird legacy in WCW until Garvin retired in 1994 while Hayes became a non-wrestling personality in WWF where he remains to this day as a backstage road agent and Smackdown! storyline writer. Terry continued to wrestle, albeit not nearly in the same caliber after a serious auto accident in the early-'90s, but he continued to compete and garner tremendous fan support from 1994 until his passing in August 2001 due to a blood clot.

Today, approximately 20 years after their initial formation, Michael Hayes, Buddy Roberts, and Jimmy Garvin recently appeared together in the WWE-released World Class DVD and occasionaly grant interviews for future DVD releases and I am crossing my fingers for this team's induction in the 2009 WWE Hall of Fame. I was happy when Dale Hey (Buddy's real name) was honored this past summer in the NWA Hall of Heroes ceremony in Atlanta, inducted by Hayes.

Everyone has their own opinions and ideas of who they like and who should be the greatest of all time and all have viable reasons for their choices and many of them are hard to argue against: The Road Warriors, The Rock 'n' Roll Express, the Midnight Rockers, The Steiner Brothers, The Outsiders, Team 3D, and the Midnight Express just to name a select few, but in my mind, the Freebirds from their fictional hometown of Badtsreet U.S.A. will always be number One!
