The greatest wrestling tag teams of all-time

and the Badstreet Band (I think it was released in 1987, but I'm not entirely certain, but I do know that he held a concert in early-1988 which featured songs from the record, albeit it was used to enhance a wrestling angle).

Another intricate contribution they made to the wrestling business is the incorporation of tag-teams consisting of more than 2 men. After they became NWA Georgia Tag Team Champions on October 10, 1980 they were the absolute first team in which more than two men were recognized as the defending champions and the un-official "Freebird Rule" was put into place as any combination of two of the recognized champions could defend the coveted titles in any given match. That was revolutionary at the time and has become a part of different other teams and stables that have held championships, most recently, the forgettable Spirit Squad of the WWE in 2006.

Hayes was easily the leader of the group with his exceptional microphone skills, charisma, and had an affinity with working the crowd as both a good guy and a bad guy.

Terry Gordy, who passed away in 2001, was the biggest and most successful Freebird. He stood close to 6'4", weighed between 270-287 pounds and according to many wrestling insiders, most notably the reknowned Jim Ross, was a prodigy. Ross said that "Bam Bam" was as good as a 16-year-old young upstart as most wrestlers in the prime of their careers. He held mutliple tag team championships with multiple partners, including 5 with the legendary "Dr. Death" Steve Williams and was a two-time AJPW Triple Crown Champion in the Land of the Rising Sun. The AJPW Triple Crown was a unification of the 3 top world titles in Japanese wrestling federation and only the single best wrestlers are ever allowed to hold the prestigious title, despite the fact that Gordy had relatively short reigns.

Roberts started in his native Canada in 1965 and acheived the height of his notoriety from 1970-1977 or '78 as one-half of the highly-decorated original Hollywood Blondes with Jerry Brown managed by a famous manager in the '70s and '80s, Sir Oliver Humperdink. In 1979, Terry and Michael were early in their careers and had held some tag team gold together and "Cowboy" Bill Watts, the CEO of the organization they were wrestling in at the time (Mid-South) put Buddy "Jack" with Hayes and Gordy and the original 3 Fabulous Freebirds were well on their way to make history.

When 1989 rolled around, WCW was on the verge of challenging Vince McMahon's WWE-then WWF and Roberts
