The Body Came Back To His Family Today
The body came back to his family today
Flag-draped coffin saluted along the way
Military men standing without dry eyes
Women and children pleading up to the sky
His buddies will tell you he gave his life
His last words on Earth were "please tell my wife..."
His actions speak louder to other men
He died for us, so we could live again
It was another time
In another year
On another front
With similar fears
A man of honor
Gave it all
He smiled at me
As he took the fall
The minister says this soldier's with God
My mind seems to be in a terrible fog
A good friend whispers this reminds him of Glenn
My mind races back to other times with him
We were buddies for life, the three of us
War tested men bound by friendship and trust
We fought on and on with no end in sight
We did what we did to get through the night
It was another time
In another year
On another front
With similar fears
A man of honor
Gave it all
Glenn smiled at me
As he took the fall
The minister says a man hung on a cross
For friends and family, a terrible loss
"Forgive them Father, they know not what they do"
No truer words ever spoken for me and you
The question for me is to control the rage
Contained in this chapter; time to turn the page
I keep remembering Glenn who once walked tall
So bastards back home can criticize it all
It was another time
In another year
On another front
With similar fears
A man of honor
Gave it all
He smiled at me
As he took the fall
The body is back with his family today
Flag-draped coffin saluted along the way
Military men standing without dry eyes
Women and children pleading up to the sky
His buddies will tell you he gave his life
His last words on Earth were "please tell my wife..."
His actions speak louder to other men
He died for us, so we could live again
It was another time
In another year
On another front
With similar fears
A man of honor
Gave it all
Glenn smiled at me
As he took the fall
He smiled at me
He gave it all.
