6) Musical Instruments

Guitars beat pianos. No contest.

7) "Billie Jean"

Not just the Michael Jackson tune, but the Roberta Flack song and "Hello" showed us that Cook is full of surprises. Archuleta's songs were pitch perfect, but oh-so-predictable. David Cook's style is completely unique.

8) Growth

We've seen the best that Archuleta has to offer. He started out strong and stayed exactly that way. Several weeks in, it was yawn-worthy (and his song choices were tepid and boring). David Cook grew and developed along the way. We haven't seen the best of him yet. Archuleta peaked at age 12.

9) Style

Does David Archuleta wear anything besides screen-printed tee shirts?

10) Talent, of course.

Naturally. And of course both guys have talent. It boils down to most of America rebelling against being told what we're supposed to like. We have tepid radio stars and insipid TV thrust down our throats at every turn. Archuleta is the guy they think we're supposed to like. It's as if a group of executives invented him. David Cook is the opposite. He's what we'd have more of if regular people chose who got to be famous.

Oh wait. They have . America has spoken. The human has prevailed over the robot. If you train someone to be a singer their whole life, they will be talented, but lack being real. Hooray for the humans, and hooray for David Cook.
