It would be more than sufficient if our government will stop sending soldiers all over the world with limited supplies in an attempt to overstretch our military and kill off as many American soldiers as possible. There would be less need for troops and potential recruits would be less wary about joining if they believed they would only be deployed to defend America and not to further a political agenda or occupy a foreign nation with no real strategic advantage to us. Largely the main result from these occupations is to provoke more Arabs to become terrorists and harm our reputation with the world.

A draft is a tool of tyranny because it takes away a persons freedom of choice regarding whether to serve their government or not. It's bad enough that volunteers have all their freedom temporarily stripped while they become "government property" As I was told I was in Fort Knox, but to have this situation forced upon random people would be deplorable and inexcusable. To have to live in fear of the draft notice coming in the mail like a sword of Damocles hanging overhead would be a form of domestic terrorism. No one should be forced to go to war when they don't agree with the war. In fact I would even be inclined to question a recruits motives for enlisting. If they are there simply to escape somehing at home, or otherwise have joined for reasons other than to defend their homes and their families, then they are not the best choice for entrusting with the lives of their fellow Americans.

It has been said by nearly every military that used involuntary recruits that conscripts or draftees make excellent targets and are good for catching bullets but generally make poor soldiers. Yet another reason why it is an evil, horrible thing to rely on them. A person who goes to war completely lacking in the passion to defend their nation is a liability and a danger to their fellow soldiers. You take someone from their home against their will and put a gun in their hand and tell them to kill people they have no reason to hate and you will undoubtedly find that the tactic does not yield results that would be positive to the nation or its military. War can make anyone crazy but more likely so when they did not choose to participate. The atrocities attributed to American soldiers who went to Vietnam are largely due to the fact that immature and untrustworthy young men were thrust into that awful jungle against their will and they started taking out their anger and frustration on the locals. Including those who otherwise may have been loyal to our country. The main difference between Iraq and Vietnam is that all the Americans in Iraq are there voluntarily. We should keep it that way.

Therefore we should be very adamant about opposing a draft in the United States, now and forever. This horrible evil which was practiced against previous generations should never again return to our nation.
