Feng Shui is a Chinese practice of the arrangement of space to achieve harmony within your home. The basics of Feng Shui are to be as comfortable and stress free in your home as possible. There are several guidelines and rules you can use to achieve the best results in your home. In the next few paragraphs I will explain some basic ideas to get you started with Feng Shi.
Before you start to decorate you will want to ask yourself these four questions about any item in the room.
Do I need it?
Do I use it?
Do I love it?
Does it make me happy?
If you say no to more than two of these questions than it needs to be removed from the room. Your home should be a mirror of who you are, and what makes you happy.
The following are three guidelines you should keep in mind when considering furniture placement:
Straight lines and sharp corners should be avoided and should not point where people tend to sit, or sleep.
The entrance door to a room should never be in clear sight when sitting at a desk, and you should be able to view as much of the room as possible.
The end of your bed should not be in the line with the bedroom door.
The next step is to avoid clutter at all cost. Clutter will only make you feel rundown, and will drain positive energy by looking at it on a daily basis. Also you should try to bring a bit of nature indoors. Living plants or a sky light if possible are some great items you can add to give your home balance.
Remember Feng Shui is just one step towards making your life better. It's a great place to start a stress free and happier life. The next step is to carry that positive energy from home all day with you.
