I think one of the best things that you can do for your child is to teach them. All great things start in the home. If you teach your child to be respectful then he or she will grow up to be a respectful adult. However, if you do not respect your elders, and you talk disrespectfully to others, how in the world do you suggest they are going to learn respect. Respect is earned for most and it is taught. I think that you need to watch what you say to and in front of your children.
I hear parents all the time saying that they cannot get their children to stop cussing and throwing tantrums. And most of the time, these parents have young, young children. Kids that are real young mimick you and do exactly what you do how you do it. So if everytime you get upset and you get frustrated, the first thing you do is cuss and yell. What do you think you are teaching your child? I try very hard myself not to get that upset where i am constanting yelling at my daughter for acting up as I try not baby her. I was treated like a baby for too long and it took a minute to get un-spoiled. You have children out there that are spoiled beyond reason and they get everything that they want. Due to the fact that these parents give them everything, they are sending them a message that anything you want in life can be bought for a price. Please parents stop teaching your child that type of stuff. Life is more than that.
I hate when people act all shocked when people whoop their children. I did not say beat. I said whoop and for people who do not understand let me explain. It is a spanking on the hand or butt with either your hand or a belt to a child. Most often than not its the butt that is hit with a belt. And the hand gets a hand smack. However, older women use paddles. If you never seen a paddle, let me introduce you. One smack on the butt from a paddle and you dont know what hit you. But even whoopings are reserved for when a child does not listen to simple reason and is almost often used as a last resort. No one just whoops their kids everyday. However, there are some children that unfortunately need it. I knew a few in my childhood that simple reasoning could not understand or should I say would not listen. You can only tell a child who in this case is a bit older to do something or to quit doing something. You can only put them on punishment so much and time out so much that in those times of utter nothing. Those whoopings come in handy. Let me tell you why so many old urban mothers
