The hostess led us to a nice booth in the back of our favorite restaraunt. As she passed out menus she informed us our waiter, Mark, would be with us shortly. We always come here because the food and service is so good and the prices are unbeleivable. My boyfriend, Mike and I looked over the extensive food lists and talked about what we wanted to eat. Just as I decided that I would have the filet with a side salad and grilled vegetables, I looked up and saw that Mike's face looked like he had just seen a ghost. I turned slightly in my chair to see what he was looking at and there before us was a man who looked enough like Mike to be his twin.
"Hello, I'm Mark and I'll be....." the man said before noticing his mirror image sitting in front of him. All our mouths stayed open for a moment until Mark had the presence of mind to continue with "I'll be your waiter this evening." With that we all cleared our throats. The two men only stared at one another while I stared alternately between the two. I can't imagine what either of them were thinking, but I just kept thinking to myself that this is too crazy to be just a coincidence. Mike introduced himself and me to Mark and they each commented on their resemblance. We all had a short laugh and Mark took our orders and disappeared. Once he was out of earshot, Mike and I asked each other all kinds of questions concerning Mark.
Could this man be a long lost relative of Mike's? Did Mike's mom or dad have other children they hadn't told him about? Is it possible that this is just a crazy coincidence? They say everyone has a twin, after all, was it possible that this was just a look-alike? I, personally was very excited, even though the situation did not affect me . Whatever was going on, it had to do with Mike and Mark, I was just lucky enough to be here to be a part of it. Mark returned with our meals and as he sat the grilled fish with lemon butter and grilled asparagus and potatoes before Mike, he remarked that it was his favorite dish. Mike and I looked at each other thinking the same thing. This was also Mike's favorite meal. He eats it every time we come here.
We ate and talked and talked and ate. It was me who had the idea to either invite Mark to our house or go to Mike's parents' house and try to see if our suspicions were true. Mike agreed and when Mark appeared again, this time with a dessert cart, we offered him to come over tomorrow after work for drinks. He accepted and we exchanged phone numbers and gave
