Human Decency
Empathy, kindness, fond human traits
We are decent we are strong, we love our fellow man
A 13 year old girl is stoned to death for suffering the indignity of being gang raped

As humans we are gentle we help others in times of need
We share, and we are thoughtful
Respectful and unique
A man kills his wife and infant child, it makes my heart bleed

Suffering and pain, goes on throughout the world
As humans we have learned to shut our eyes
Cover our ears and our mouths
So much torment so much agony, but who is to blame

Where is our human decency when did it go away
Do you close your heart when you hear of torture?
When you see someone in need of help
Do you turn and walk away

The world has turned from good to bad
Who of us can make a change?
Who of us can still say without all doubt
I am a decent human being.
