How to make a difference in the life of a child

Title endorsed in part by:

DIFFERENCES PARENTS MAKE IN THEIR CHILD :

1. Be an example as children imitate their parents.

2. Monitor what the children watch on Television that is harmful causing nightmares.

3. Place computer blocks on websites children should not go.

4. Be there when a child comes home from school so possible problem solutions can be discussed together.

5. Love each child unconditionally and independently with no comparisons in behavior, grades, or social activities.

6. Give each child equal time doing fun things helps them feel special and loved. Go out for ice cream, shopping, to the park, sports movies, their favorite restaurant, ice skating, and roller skating.

7. Tutor when needed to help raise their grades.

8. Listen and be supportive in child's activities, sports, and careers.

9. Encourage and praise each child when a job is well done.

10. Stickers or an allowance for doing chores and homework without complaining or being asked to do.

DIFFERENCES GRANDPARENTS MAKE IN A CHILD :

1. Baby sitting so parents can have special times away together.

2. Teach cooking skills as most parents do not have time. Make Christmas cookies to give away.

3. Read stories introduces the love of books. Encourage children to read aloud builds their confidence.

4. Take to a zoo, park, playground and on surprise mystery outings.

5. Share stories and experiences from your life when you were their age.

6. Volunteer to pick children up from school and take to their dance, sports, and singing lessons.

7. Make crafts together depending on age group like bird houses, doll beds out of crates, Tie dyed T-Shirts etc.

DIFFERENCE TEACHERS MAKE IN A CHILD :

1. Give encouragement and praise for a job well done. I had a 10th grade English teacher that read my writing in front of the class and to the teachers giving me encouragement and a love to write more.

2. Spend extra time to help slow learners.

3. Allow students to discuss various topics and problems that are a help to all. Our son during High School was part of a group that went around to different schools and acted out problems that kids had. Then they would talk about the problems afterwards and students would see that others had the same problem they had. They found grades went up in students as they were helped.

4. Have after school tutoring classes for math and foreign languages.

5. Lend an extra ear to troubled students and suggest ways to get help. A teacher may never know how many lives were changed just by a word spoken or a pat on the back during their teaching career.

DIFFERENCES COUNSELORS MAKE IN A CHILD :

1. Discuss problems they are having with parents and suggest solutions.

2. Help choose the right college and how and when they should submit entrance applications.

3. Listen to their hurts and stop suicidal tendencies by showing each child their strength and purpose in life.

4. Direct and guide in job searches in their interest field.

5. Encouraging students to participate in sports, debates, student council, and school activities.

These are just a few ways how people can make a vast difference in the life of a child. Encouragement, support, praise, caring and listening is the spark that turns a child's life around. And you just may be that person who makes that difference.
