While spring is hitting the catwalk, fall is filling the stores. From statement making necklaces to black lace tights, fall trends cover the fashion spectrum. Standout designers this season are Balmain, Alexander Wang, and Rodarte, as well as, fashion favorites 3.1 Phillip Lim, Gucci, and Zac Posen. To see their fall collections visit style.com. Dresses are key pieces as ladylike looks continue to grace the catwalks and celebrities. Pops of unexpected color are, also, key to spicing up somber fall colors while jewel tones and metallics offer a break from the black, white, and gray seen everywhere.
Despite the wide range of trends this fall season, there are a few key pieces that everyone should introduce into their wardrobe. Black lace tights, and tights in general, are perfect for finishing off a party dress and keeping legs warm this winter. Red opaque tights worn with a little black dress or black patterned tights with a colored frock are great ways to wear this look.
A bag with long straps worn across the body is a nice casual look this season. Slouchy leathers in bright colors like purple and turquoise make bold statements and long straps leave your hands free for multitasking. Details such as fringe, beading, feathers, chains, and studs are great for any bag this season.
Motorcycle boots and fetish inspired footwear offer a kick to any outfit. Wear motorcycle boots with dresses to toughen up a girly look, and pair black heels with plenty of buckles with pants or leggings for an edgy look.
Wool beanies, as seen at Alexander Wang and Erin Fetherston, add a cool, coed vibe to dresses and blazers. Perfect for the winter when cold weather strikes and endless bad hair days, these hats will keep you polished and on trend.
Necklaces make a statement this season with layered chains, chunky bangles, and bejeweled collars. Dries Van Noten, Tory Burch, and Forever 21 all make great options.
Plaid is continuing to play a role in fall dressing as plaid work shirts in figure flattering cuts continue to be worn be young A-listers. Plaid jackets and messenger bags are another great way to wear this look.
Bow-tie blouses remain popular and look equally great with jeans or a skirt. Charlotte Russe and Forever 21 offer inexpensive options while shopbop.com offers designer versions.
Finally, scarves are key to looks in every climate. In sunny California, top a camisole with a scarf looped around your neck for paparazzi worthy look. In New York, a scarf peeking out of a bomber jacket radiates casual flare. Scarves with ethnic prints or in metallic colors are an inexpensive way to update your look. Visit WhoWhatWear TV for more ideas about how to wear scarves.
WIth great stores like H&M, Forever 21, and Topshop, there is no need to spend a bundle to be fashionable. Urban Outfitters, Nine West, Steve Madden, and Target are other great stores to get fall trends for less.
