Will Sarah Palin get a second chance at the presidency?

Now that the election has past and come January President elect Barack Obama will be settling comfortably into the White House with his new puppy, we must ask ourselves, what happens to the loosing team? Anyone following the election aftermath knows that President elect Obama is eager to work closely with McCain and bring together both political parties.

But what will become of Governor Palin? Will she slink back into the deep wilderness of the Alaskan territory? Or will her she ride firmly on her wit into higher office, playing the part of political maverick with an aim to the presidency in 2012.

Despite her political agenda, I doubt if the American public will be seeing much more of Governor Palin.

When John McCain announced Palin as his running mate, initial reactions were encouraging. McCain took a temporary lead in the polls and the public seemed excited to have a fresh face alongside McCain.

But excitement quickly gave way to skepticism. Once everyone began to see past Palin's retro beehive haircut and diva glasses, they didn't see much else. Clearly, Palin was picked in order to help McCain identify with the American people. Palin is a successful woman with traditional values, and people were excited to get to know her. She became an obsession, a trend if you will, and one which quickly collapsed in on itself.

People began to see something of themselves in Palin, and they liked that. But once people started to realize that they could identify with her, they started asking themselves: "Why am I not on the road to the Whitehouse?" Answer: Obviously because you're not as much of a maverick as Palin is, Duh.

Lets be realistic, the possibility of Governor Palin ever actually reaching the White House is about the same as that of pigs flying, pigs wearing lipstick that is.

Palin's track record is short, too short. Despite a positive reputation in her home state of Alaska, Governor Palin really doesn't have much to brag about, which just serves to question the judgment of McCain. I guess America wasn't as blind as Palin apparently was.

To her credit, her rise in status in such a short amount of time reminds me that the American dream still thrives. You know Hillary, its not hard work that will get you the presidency; it's a killer set of legs and a boss with a less than stellar health. Oh wait, I guess it's not.

I think we can be sure that Palin's rise in political rank was nothing more than a hiccup. Now that the campaign is over and her ego has been shattered, she can head back to the north woods and continue to do what she does best, renovate her office with Alaskan tax dollars.

So long Palin, it was fun while it lasted, but it lasted long enough.
