Chickens are one of the most amusing animals I have ever come across. People just don't see past the eggs in the store. They don't care how they got there anymore then the producers can see past the dollar amount that the eggs get them. The public should be aware of how that chicken dinner got to be on their plate. We should all care what these animals go through in the name of convenience and the all mighty dollar. We should also care about the amount of chemicals that go unnaturally into your food. What about the chemicals on the food grown for your food? Chemicles that don't stop there, they seep into the ground, which seeps into the water tables and then the crop dust flys into the air we all breath.Through the years I have seen many documentries ,news articles and broadcasts of the disgusting and in humane treatment of our food animals. slaughter houses so bent on production that the animal is no longer another being that breaths, has a heartbeart and has the same basic instinks that we do.I have seen farmers walk and drive across the dead carcases of animals that no longer held "value for them. Animals being prodded to slaughter dragging broken limbs and crying out in pain and agony. In one photo from a man who worked in a local slaughter house was him standing onto of a huge mound of dead cows. The public can no longer turn a blind eye away from what is not pleasant and really think about what this way of livingcould mean for our future earth . Not just our future but our children's, children's ,children's, future. We can not just live for today.Because with out the chicken there is no egg! Chickens will run across the yard to greet you "or your bucket ", they preen and argue like we do .They protect their children against much bigger predatorsthen themselves and they can back down a 110 dog with authority. Chickens love to dust themselves in the dirt , these are things which they can not do in a 11 x 11 cage . A cage which is not even big enough for them to preen or even spread their wings and fluff their feathers. Then they also get souped up with hormones and antibiotics for better production.Even your so called free rang and cage free are brought up in massive open indoor pens similar to how feed lots are for cows. they are not allowed to live free outside in the sun so they can scratch in the dirt and forage . chickens should be added the humane slaughter act, When you think that this is how they LIVE ,Don't you think their death should at least be humane.
