Should Social Security be reformed to include personal retirement accounts?
Ernest Ackerman received a payment of $0.17 in January of 1937. He was the first person to receive a payment from social security. It was a one-time pay out meaning that he received nothing else after that payment. It wasn't much money even back then. Today, it wouldn't even come close to buying you a Coca-cola. And so began one of the greatest frauds ever perpetrated on the American people.
It is clear that the will of the American people is to steer this country into the path of collectivism rather than individualism. To suggest that one needs to sign over his/her retirement accounts to the control of the government is ludicrous. The question that begs to be asked is, "Why?" Why would one want the government to control their retirement? You should know that the government has squandered much, if not all, of the reserves in the social security fund. You know the fund that is supposed to keep the agency solvent.
Our country was created based on the principles of freedom. We have the right to worship the God of our choice; the right to bear arms; the right to free speech; etc. According to the Declaration of Independence, we also have the right to pursue happiness, but happiness is not guaranteed. As a matter of fact, the word "happiness" is not mentioned in the Constitution check it out for yourself - http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html. Where does it say that the government can take the money that we have set aside for our retirements and use it for their purposes? It does not!
This is a serious threat! There are those who think it is okay to take our money at the point of a gun! Gun? Come on Smith, no one is going to point a gun at you to get you to comply. Really? Disobey a government official and watch what happens.
Look at the many examples that we face:
- We have the death tax. You die and you have to pay money to the government
- We have wealth envy. Obama has said that he wants to "spread the wealth."
- We are told that if we oppose this idea we are unpatriotic

- We are told that 95% of the population will receive a tax break even though only about 53% of all wage-earners pay federal income taxes how?
- We have people suggesting that the government take 15% of all privately owned accounts why?
The amount that is to be tax-increase "free" has continued to drop from
