Just To Live Again
Memories clouded by a broken heart
it was not the way from the very start
not remembering now
the gifts I received last year
but chilling anniversaries
of what had been happening here
we received a book of proverbs
do not harden your heart
how can it be hard with a hole from which
it was torn apart
scattered to the wind, grief sets in
was love really there for him?
trust and respect never present
on a one way street, going the wrong way
can only lead to desaster in the end
as assertiveness starts to rise
so do white flags of surmise
look at each other, what now? Don't know how
he knows what he's done
changes made from which never should have begun
and he hasn't really won
both lost, both sad, exhausted from the fight
cling to one another for promise of hope in the night
can we ever get it right?
truning one emotion into another
just to feel again
just to live again
if only for a fleeting moment in time
just to live again
