Fried green tomatoes, I had never heard of this recipe until after watching the movie that bares its name. I love tomatoes and let's face it there are only so many things you can do with a tomato. So this recipe cam from trail and error and yet it is very simple, sometimes it's the simplest things that cause us the most frustration.

Ingredients

4 Medium size green tomatoes (sliced)
2 cups of unseasoned bread crumbs
1 /4 cup of extra virgin olive oil
1/ 4 cup of half and half
1 /2 cup of flour

Mix the bread crumbs, half and half and flour in a bowl.

Add the olive oil to a frying pan and heat, dip the green tomatoes in the mixture of bread crumbs, half and half and flour once they are coated on both sides put them in the warm frying pan.

Cook on one side about 3 minutes and flip and cook for 3 more minutes on the other side. Your coating will be a golden brown and your tomato will still be firm enough to cut into with a fork without turning to mush. The lack of extra ingredients is to maintain the taste of the tomato.
