Country Porch
I left my dreams
on a country porch,
dancing inside sun stained boards
to a wild moon's song,
whispering silly secrets to
lazy June crickets,
cuddling arm in arm with rainy clouds,
dreaming only of me in winter's dead silence,
weeping for the breath once shared
with a young girl in a whitewashed swing,
nighttime poetry mumbled unhurried
into the gold of a midday sky.
We did everything together those lonely years,
my dreams and I.
Time came, took me far.
I dream of the dreams
left dancing inside the sun stained boards,
wondering if anyone ever found them.
