TV show reviews: Junkyard Wars

Junk Yard Wars in my opinion is a very unique show were individuals have to work together to create something. There are two teams which consist of approximately four people. Each individual plays an important role on the team such as leader, mechanic, welder, etc. The host of the show provides them with something to build which at the end of the show will be used in a competition. This usually includes something which is motorized or produces some type of effect, such as a catapult.

The host of the show and his side kick are British and dress in a very unique manner. They are very entertaining and visit the teams while they are constructing. Sometimes they even try to help the teams which are struggling by making useful suggestions. Each one will visit a team then they meet back up and discuss their thoughts and opinions of how each one is doing.

Each team has a designated area in which to create the item. To begin the team makes a diagram of what they will be creating and the items they will use to build it. They are allowed to go into the junk yard to obtain the items which they need. There is a generous time limit which may consist of more than one day. All of this takes place during an hour time slot.

As the teams scatter to find items they need sometimes they have to change their plans. Other times the item in which they chose to utilize, a motor for instance may not work properly and they are off to find a replacement. The appropriate tools are not always available and it is interesting to see how they will achieve their goal. Teams and individuals work together to make their original plans work, but sometimes have to alter them.

Once the item which has been designated to be produced is finished, hopefully a team has enough time to be able to make sure it works properly. There have been times when this important step was not able to be completed. This does not stop these individuals, following the rules set before them for the competition they manage somehow to still participate. The majority of competitions involve some type of obstacle course to be completed, the team which completes it first wins. The winning team is giving medals and a bottle of champagne is opened and spews all over the winning team. After the bottle has calmed down team mates take turns drinking from the bottle. If you would like something different to watch I suggest Junk Yard Wars, this show is family friendly. Unfortunately I no longer get the channel which airs this program, but I wish I did.
