Poetry: Darkness

by Lyndsay Andrews

Escaping each breath

That rings from my ear

A legitimate desire

Of singing leaps from my voice

The vibrations make the snow melt

Makes the flowers bloom

Changes the seasons

Light filters through an open gap

Colliding the two worlds

The taste from the sun

Sweetens the tongue and raises spirits

An emotional break through occurs

Light captures dark

Dark covers light

Creating colors that dance upon the walls and ceilings

Eclipsing your face as you sleep

The desire still lives

To touch your face

But like the darkness that disappeared

I no longer can

All I can do is watch the light

And stream the wishes

Risking a touch

Would be impossible

For I am the darkness

And will surely wither upon your touch
