Fear Of The Enemy
I hide.
Keep quiet.
Must be silent.
Must be still.
Hiding till the danger's passed.
Dare I risk a quick sprint
across open ground?
Risking enemy attack,
I make a dash for it.
Racing,
heart beating.
Fear making my legs
move faster than I thought possible
to another hiding place.
If I can make it to cover
I shall be safe again.
I gasp.
I see the enemy approaching
hysterically,
clumsily,
shoe in hand.
I panic.
I scurry.
There's no escape.
The shoe casts
a huge shadow over me,
hovering.
My eight legs freeze,
paralysed with fright
as the shoe hits.

Slowly creeping across the wall.
