Maintaining your vehicle is paramount in keeping it as safe as possible. Breakdowns, mechanical failures, and accidents are not only annoying. They can put you and your family in harms way. It may leave you stranded and far from home. It can place you at the mercy of mother nature and put a strain on your finances. The best way to keep you and your family safe is to keep your car, truck, van, or SUV in perfect running condition at all times

There have been many improvements in automotive safety equipment over time. One of the most advanced and revolutionary developments has been the modern airbag. It has helped save many lives. It has changed the way we look at automotive safety. It has become a standard in lifesaving automotive equipment technology . It will continue to improve and safeguard our lives and the lives of our children for many years to come. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has stated that over 163 million of the more than 224 million vehicles on U.S. roads have driver side airbags. Over 144 million of these are said to have have passenger airbags. Another 1 million new cars and light trucks with airbags are being sold each month. It is also estimated that 18,319 people are still alive today because of their airbags. It is important to adjust your sitting position that you are the right distance from the airbag for the most protection. Make sure children that are in a booster seats or car seats sit in the back. Turn the passenger airbag off when child safety equipment is used in the passenger seat.

Your vehicle's safety restraint system is every bit as important as it's airbag system. It works in unison with the airbags to save lives. Over time it has evolved into the simple yet effective restraint systems we see in todays automobiles. It should be in constant working order and immediately  repaired or replaced if worn or damaged. They should be adjusted properly and always fastened when the vehicle is in motion. According to www.NHTSA.gov younger drivers tend to wear their seat belts less often than seasoned drivers and that women tend to buckle up more often than men. We are also more likely to buckle up if we are driving alone. Safety restraint systems will also continue to adapt and improve. They will continue to provide a way to help keep us safe.

Since tires are your only contact with the road. They are vital to your vehicles overall safety. They should be rotated at proper intervals and  checked for correct pressure
