This is the special edition of the movie! Please bear in mind this is the second time writing this review but because ciao hates me I lost the first one! This is a stop-motion animated movie from Tim Burton. Many make the mistake that burton is actually the director of this movie but he is not. He is the producer and the writer of the movie. It is his vision that first came from a poem Burton wrote. He doodled some characters onto the page whilst writing and the movie took off from there. The actual director is a man called Henry Selick. He is not as well known as Burton but has done animation work on a few disney movies and went on to direct the "james and the giant peach" movie that was also stop-motion animation. I think Selick does a good job but I do think Burton would have been better directing the movie as it was his original vision! The plot is somehwat odd but in a very charming and original way. We are introduced at the start to the many holidays we celebrate, Christmas and easter are memtioned. We are taken to a secluded part of a wood where there are many doors in the trees. These are the entrances to the different worlds of the holidays. The world where this story takes place is called Halloween town. The residents of this town are all monsters. There are vampires and mummys along with many other designs Burton has come up with. They work hard throughout the year waiting for Halloween. They come up with many new ways to scare people and generally cause havoc. They have no bad intentions and they are not evil , it is just their job in a wierd way. At halloween they go into are world and hope to scare more poeple than they did the year before. The leader of this town is Jack Skelligton. He is essentially a walking, walking skellington as you may have guesed. He is known to be the scariest of all the residents. He is kind hearted which may strike you as odd but he is very protective of the people (I use that word losely) of his town. He has a ghost dog named Zero who is his faithful companion. Jack loves everything about Halloween but he is growing bored. He wants to find something else, something to excite him again. He gets his wish. One day when he is walking in the forest he comes across the portal doors to the other holidays. He sees the christmas door and it intregues him. He goes through and is immediately drawn in by the magic of christmas. He decides to find out what makes it so good and then merge christmas with halloween! This obviously
